Johanne is a glitch.  He was Teddy's first digimon but when the virus attacked her group he glitched out and can no longer devolve, digivolve, or attack.  In fact he's forgetten most of his past life and now helps Teddy by transporting her across long distances when needed.  Because he can no longer attack, and therefore can no longer protect himself, he retreats to the digifarm when confronted to avoid being deleted.
